Obama responds to Trump racist video post, says most Americans find it 'deeply troubling

Former President Barack Obama responded after President Donald Trump’s social media account

shared a controversial video that showed Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes.

The video was later deleted after backlash from both Democrats and Republicans.

Obama addressed the issue during an interview with podcaster Brian Tyler Cohen that was released on Saturday.

While he didn’t directly attack Trump by name, Obama said most Americans find that kind of behavior “deeply troubling.”

He described today’s political climate — especially on television and social media — as a “clown show.”

Obama said there used to be an expectation of basic respect and decency from U.S. leaders.

According to him, that standard has clearly changed.

The post was also tied to renewed claims about the 2020 presidential election — claims that have already been widely disputed.

Trump’s team initially defended the post as a meme.

Later, aides suggested a staff member shared it.

Trump himself said he didn’t watch the full video before it was posted.
